What is Microdermabrasion?

Those who are allergic to aluminium should forego microdermabrasion that makes use of aluminium crystals and instead opt for another type of microdermabrasion treatment.  Individuals with prevalence for scarring or who experience rosacea or telangiectasia should inform their dermatologist before undergoing microdermabrasion.  The treatment is suitable for both men and women.

How does it work?

Microdermabrasion is essentially a deep and controlled exfoliation of the skin. It is a cosmetic procedure as it acts on both the epidermis and dermis, and can provide effective treatment for a variety of skin problems, such as acne scarring, stretch mark removal and pigmentation.

What does Microdermabrasion Treatment feel like?

Your skin will be cleaned and prepped, ready for treatment.A wand with a diamond-encrusted tip is passed over the skin in upward and sideward direction.
The diamond tip abrades the skin and, the exfoliated particles are then vacuumed away through the same wand.  The treatment is relatively pain free, and generally causes a scratching sensation in the area being treated.

This technique is less aggressive than dermabrasion so you don’t need numbing medicines.

Results

Results are immediately visible following a procedure, with no down time required.  The desired results typically require between four to six individual microdermabrasion sessions depending on your specific skin condition.
